Our Great Strides Story

The Optimist Club of Los Angeles Team is driven by a dream that one day, every person with cystic fibrosis will have the chance to live a long, healthy life. You can help us reach that goal!

The Optimist Club of Los Angeles was chartered in March 1917. We are the oldest Club in the Pacific Southeast District of Optimist International.

We CHOOSE OPTIMISM, and our commitment to this goal has focused our efforts on the following:

Bringing out the best in youth,

Bringing out the best in our communities, and

Bringing out the best in ourselves.

We encourage you also to CHOOSE OPTIMISM and to help us help the CF Community by donating to our team and participating in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Greater Los Angeles walk on May 13, 2023.

Despite the unprecedented progress the CF Foundation has fostered over the years, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies because their disease is too advanced or their genetic mutations will not respond. Those who can take current therapies continue to face challenging complications - leading to hospitalizations, missed school and work, and significant interruptions in their daily routine. Many children and adults with CF still face the sobering prospect of a shortened lifespan.

As our Optimist Creed says, “Promise to talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.” Join our team in supporting the health, happiness, and prosperity of people with CF and their families as you support our team.
